Daley is one of the greatest British athletes of all time. His impressive medal haul consists of 2 Olympic gold medals 1980 and 1984, and broke the world Decathlon record an impressive four times.
Daley Thompson's highest score in the decathlon was 8847 points, set in the 1984 Olympic Games a world record that stood until 1992, when it was broken by the American athlete Dan O'Brien with a score of 8891.Daley still holds the UK record which he set at the Olympic Games in 1984.
Daley Thompson was a master of performing on the biggest stage he was the first athlete to simultaneously hold Olympic, Commonwealth, European and World titles in a single event. Daley remained undefeated in all competitions for nine years between 1979 and 1987 a remarkable achievement.
His career achievements have been rewarded with an OBE in 1983 followed by a CBE in the year 2000. Daley has been involved in Super Schools for the last 30 years and still appears from time to time supporting our venture.
