Jason Gardener is a welcomed athlete to the Super Schools team, Jason`s successful career spanned over 10 years from 1994 where he won his first major title at the World Junior Championships winning a gold at the 4x100 relay to then taking a silver in the 100m individual. Jason`s form continued into the European Indoor Championships where he won a silver medal.
In 1999 Jason again proving his outstanding talent gained him self a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in which he broke the British record. Jason that year also saw success in the 4x100 relay also breaking the British record in Seville in a time of 37.73 seconds.
Year 2000 saw Jason stamp his authority on the indoor track by going one better than last time out winning a gold medal at the European Indoor Championships setting a National 50meter record in a time of 5.61 seconds. Sadly like many of the worlds top athletes at some point or other injury strikes usually at the most unwelcomed of times in which it did for Jason hampering his Sydney Olympic preparation resulting in him failing to reach the latter rounds.
In 2001 saw another World indoors bronze despite being hampered by a hamstring injury but the following year he bettered this to take the gold, his first world individual title ahead of the fancied Shawn Crawford of the United States of America. Jason regained his European indoor title successfully defending his gold medal. This proved to be the spring board to furthering his success by winning the gold medal in the 4x100meter relay at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Jason made the squad for the 2004 Summer Olympics where he competed in the 100m and won the gold medal in the 4x100 m relay with Darren Campbell, Marlon Devonish and Mark Lewis-Francis in a time of 38.07 seconds their season's best.
Jason`s consistent performances over his career is a credit to his professional outlook on his life and a credit to his determination to succeed.
In March 2007, Jason won his fourth European Indoor 60m gold after fears that he may have to miss defending his title as his wife, Nancy, was due to give birth.
